About The Loop
The Loop is the bustling center of Downtown Chicago, and is the main commercial center and tourism destination in Chicago. Many iconic Chicago landmarks can be found in the loop, including the 110-story Sears Tower, The Chicago Theater, Marshall-Field, Millennium Park and the Bean, the Art Institute of Chicago, Daley Plaza, the Chicago Stock Exchange and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Chicago is a city famous for its architecture, and the Loop is home to many historically important Chicago buildings. The Loop is bounded by Wacker Drive on the north and west, Jackson on the south and Michigan Ave. on the east.
Although it does have the highest concentration of commercial buildings in Chicago, the Loop is not just about work. The Loop has a wide variety of cultural attractions, including outdoor contemporary art, museums and a number of live performance theaters. There are also a number of world-class restaurants and bars to be found.
Recently, Chicago has seen a boom in residential development in the Loop and surrounding neighborhoods. Most of the residential property in the Loop consists of rehab and new development high-rise condos and lofts. Housing prices range from quite reasonable to multi-million dollar luxury residences.
Transportation is the Loop is not an issue, as every main CTA “L” line runs through the city.
